The Nerdist Podcast

After reading my interests post, [link] you may have been like; what's a podcast? Well curious fellow, it's a audio track that is delivered to your ears via iTunes (or the internet). On these tracks, people talk, usually in a nonspecific way about the topic that their podcast is about. A theme... I realize that this doesn't make sense. But that's okay with me because I'm not telling you about all podcasts, just one right now.

The Nerdist Podcast: The three hosts, Chris Hardwick, Matt Mira, and Jonah Ray, all have nerdy professions and obsessions. Maybe not professions so much: they're comedians. But as they'll tell you, that really just means that they live life obsessing about those little things that annoy us all. The itches in society. That isn't the only things they do though, not at all. Though the host-full episodes are my personal favorites, the interviews of nerdy celebrities are intriguing, entertaining, and hugely amusing. It's a comedy podcast for nerds and geeks, mostly in their twenties, but still entertaining for an older or younger audience.

The Guests: The sort of celebrity that wants to have a recorded hour-long heartfelt conversation with three men who label themselves nerds is an interesting kind. The most famous, like David Tenant, David Cross, Neil Gaiman, Ben Folds, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Andy Samberg... The list goes on, quite literally, there are one hundred and fifty-seven episodes. (As of January 20th 2012.)

The Live Shows: Recently, with the boom of podcasting and The Nerdist in particular, (number three one the iTunes comedy podcast chart) they have taken to the air in order to land near you and send you into fits of crippling laughter from LIVE shows! Though you might not be able to go no worries, it wouldn't be a podcast if it weren't recorded and cast onto the net. How poetic. I've never been, nor will I. These are twenty-one and up shows, so unless they keep it up for five years, and I'm still listening, I won't be going. Still I recommend it to anyone who can.

Host-full episodes: A Nerdist podcast host-full episode is hilarious, heartfelt and personal. Since a host-full episode doesn't have a guest to focus on, they always swerve all over the place and tangent like non-Euclidean geometry. These episodes really feel like you're there, and the listener often feels like they're just being the quiet guy in the conversation: there, but too far away to say anything. (paradox) You also really get to know the guys, they're really good friends of mine after all the hours I've heard them, and in the least stalker-ey way possible! That is, to know someone with out them ever seeing you. It isn't stalker-ey, right?
