This is the Japanese Torii Gate. (the picture.) They traditionally mark the entrance to a Shinto shrine, they are also often seen in Buddhist Temples and also mark the transition from the profane outer world to the sacred and holy inner shrine.
I have decided to draw a sketchbook picture every day, or at least every other day, as I missed yesterday, and that wouldn't be a good start to a New-years resolution. + some pictures just take too long to do in one day. so it is better to finish them in two than to just not draw one.
Thanks for reading, and viewing.
